Food truck festival proved popular

The first Fall Food Truck Festival charity fundraiser that recently took place on a weeknight at Lake Pearl — Wrentham, the former Lake Pearl Luciano’s, was a smashing success, according to event host state Rep. Shawn Dooley, R-Norfolk.

A total of 365 tickets were sold that exceeded an initial cap of 350. The event, which featured music besides food, was sponsored by local businesses, including Plainridge Park Casino of
Plainville. A food truck from Amego of Attleboro that supports individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities was fully staffed by men and women who participate in their
program. Money raised went to the Random Smile Project and the Santa Foundation.

“We were very fortunate that Lake Pearl — Wrentham not only donated the venue but fully staffed the event as a donation to the charities,” Dooley said, mentioning other businesses also
covered expenses to allow for all ticket sale money to go to the charities. A total of $8,300 was raised.

“The event had a ton of volunteers step up to help but the core team that planned it,” Dooley said, including local businessman Tom DiPlacido, contractor John Anderson of Plumb House of
Milford, and Wrentham Town Moderator Ed Goddard. Planning is already underway for next year, with a goal of having more food trucks and tickets available.
