September 11th Message
Nineteen years ago today, nearly 3,000 Americans, including 206 with ties to Massachusetts, died as a result of a coordinated terrorist attack on our nation. The events of that terrible day will remain forever seared in our collective memory.
Although September 11, 2001 represented one of our nation’s darkest hours, it also showed the resiliency of the American spirit. On that day, many stories of heroism and sacrifice emerged, as countless individuals selflessly placed themselves in harm’s way to help save the lives of complete strangers.
As a fire fighter, I continue to be in awe of the brave men and women who rushed in to save total strangers. The fact that there are some folks who posed for pictures with and praised these heroes are now attacking them as a horrendous class of people as a whole - maddens me to no end. They said they would never forget.
As we continue to honor the thousands of innocent lives lost on 9/11, including the more than 400 first responders who perished while saving others, let us also remember the many families who lost a loved one and keep them in our thoughts and prayers.
