As rumors of a possible expansion of the commuter rail service from Walpole to Foxboro spread, town officials say they fear the project would hurt Walpole’s economy and quality of life.
“A headache for the people of Walpole,” is what State Rep.Shawn Dooley (R-Norfolk) called the proposed train that would travel daily through a freight line owned by CSX Transportation Corp. from Walpole to Gillette Stadium.
WRENTHAM – A local company that produces soil and landscaping products is in line to benefit from a new state regulation that requires recycling of food waste.
Groundscapes Express, which leases 12 acres at the Wrentham Developmental Center, is one of about 50 facilities across the state that composts food waste along with manure, wood and yard waste to create fertilizers and erosion control berms.
FOXBORO – State transportation officials are being close-mouthed about a possible commuter rail extension from Walpole to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.
MBTA and Department of Transportation officials declined to answer questions about the project Tuesday and said a briefing for Foxboro selectmen is planned for next month. State officials also plan to meet later with Walpole officials, according to MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo.
